The Heritage listed Edgeworth David Building’s top floor originally contained a rabbit warren of dark and damp rooms. Gray Puksand created a large open plan laboratory for the School of Biological Sciences penetrated by natural light.
The laboratory has a variety of equipment used for research in Molecular Ecology, Evolution and Phylogenetics, which required new fume cupboards, biosafety cabinets, chemical traps and showers. The result is a sound architectural and service
co-ordinated design that complies with the comprehensive regulatory requirements.
The project demonstrates a thorough understanding of University procedures, regulatory requirements, functional parameters and technical diversity, as well as working within strict budgets, to create quality research based learning facilities.
