Gray Puksand was engaged to design a Mortuary facility which consolidated several pathological functions into a single Pathology department. Throughout this project, it was imperative to maintain an operational autopsy and cold room at all times until completion of the new works. After reviewing the existing environments and undertaking in-depth communication with the hospital staff and management, an efficient and flexible mortuary was delivered in 2015.

Phase 1 includes a new autopsy room, associated change room, boot wash and PPE area, new cold room and a viewing room with an interchangeable glass window. To be completed at a future date, Phase 2 will include a new cut-up room, specimen storage and receiving area for anatomical pathology.
